The defendant appeals from his conviction of murder in the first degree, and from the denial of his motion for new trial, claiming that at trial he was denied the effective assistance of counsel. In his motion for new trial, the defendant claimed that the failure of his trial counsel 1 to investigate fully and to pursue the issue whether the defendant’s conduct was the proximate cause of the victim’s death constituted the ineffective assistance of counsel.
