On October 12, 1982 at approximately 9:30 p.m., the Portage County Sheriffs Department received a phone call from appellant, Michael Miller (appellant), reporting a suicide at 1186 Heartwood Circle, Suffield, Ohio. After responding to the call, the detectives, upon their arrival at the scene, found one Harriet Pletcher lying on the bathroom floor, with a handgun in her right hand, shot once in the face.
