After a jury trial, appellant Elias Sparks was convicted of aggravated assault while armed, in violation of D.C.Code §§ 22-504.1, -3202 (1996), and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime of violence (“PFCV”), in violation of § 22-3204(b). 1 Sparks filed a notice of appeal contending, inter alia, that the trial court erred in permitting introduction of: (1) the victim’s prior identification statements, as substantive evidence; and (2) details, through the testimony of police officers, about the victim’s prior inconsistent statements, as impeachment…
