In 1977, after a jury trial, defendant Charles Day and a codefendant were convicted of attempted armed robbery and murder. Day was sentenced on the murder conviction to a term of 40 to 65 years, and his codefendant received a term of 50 to 75 years. Both defendants appealed their convictions to this court, and we affirmed the trial court’s judgment (People v. Day (1979), 76 Ill. App. 3d 571, 394 N.E.2d 1378).
