MEMORANDUM

CLIVE W. BARE, Bankruptcy Judge.

At issue is whether the debtor is entitled to a homestead exemption under Florida law. Also at issue is whether the debtor is entitled under Florida law to exempt the cash surrender value of certain life insurance policies of which she is the owner and beneficiary.

On September 9, 1983, an involuntary chapter 7 petition was filed against the debtor Sonya W. Butcher. Initially, the debtor contested the entry of an order for relief. Some six months later, however, she consented to the entry of an order for relief on March 28, 1984. Shortly thereafter, on…
