This was a proceeding under the Bastardy act, instituted in the county court of Bond county, where, upon trial by a jury, the defendant was found to be the father of the child, and judgment rendered, requiring him to contribute to its support, under the statute. On appeal to the circuit court a trial de novo was had, a like verdict rendered, and the defendant adjudged to pay the sum of $50 for the support of the child, it having in the meantime died.
