Following the homicide of an elderly woman, the appellant, Jeremy Gamer, confessed to committing the crime. At the time he made his statement to police, Gamer was 15 years old, had been interviewed for several hours beginning at approximately 2 a.m., and did not have a parent or guardian with him. During their interview of Gamer, police made reference to public perception of the crime, stating that the public would view Gamer as a “monster” and would call for him to be put to death in the electric chair.
