In August 2002, following a period of severe financial stress exacerbated by the September 11th attacks, U.S. Airways, Inc. (U.S.Airways), the principal operating subsidiary of U.S. Airways Group (Group), filed for relief under Chapter 11 of the Bankruptcy Code.
