OPINION

WEISBERGER, Justice.

This case comes before us on appeal from a judgment of the Superior Court that awarded the sum of $240,000 plus interest and costs to Wendy LaBounty (Wendy) in her action against her former husband, Stephen LaBounty (Stephen). The trial justice directed a verdict in favor of Stephen in respect to the claim of his son, Brian La-Bounty (Brian). Stephen appeals from the award to Wendy.
