George A. Jones, a conductor in the employment of the interurban service of the defendant, was killed on May 8, 1908, by being crushed between the wall of defendant’s building and the handhold for the rear entrance to one of its cars. In this action by his administratrix, grounded on negligence causing his death, there was a special verdict. The verdict found that the car was suddenly and negligently started by the motorman without giving the usual signal and that this was a proximate cause of the injury.
