McENTEE, Circuit Judge.

The only question raised by this appeal is whether petitioner Small’s conviction for robbery in Maine Superior Court was obtained in violation of the Confrontation Clause of the Sixth Amendment. Basically, the answer depends on whether the prosecutor’s conduct in the interrogation of a witness at the trial deprived petitioner of his right of cross-examination.
