BINGHAM, Circuit Judge.

The libelant brings this proceeding to recover the sum due him for services rendered the libelee down to February 14, 1920, when he was discharged.

On or about December 10, 1919, the libelant shipped on the libelee’s schooner Veda M. McKown for a voyage from the port of Gloucester to the Bay of Islands and other ports of Newfoundland and back to said port of Gloucester, for the purpose of obtaining a cargo of herring, and, in addition to his duties as one of the crew in manning the vessel, he was required to assist in handling the cargo and in salting, packing, and…
