A. Background

In this insurance coverage action brought by the Roman Catholic Bishop of Springfield (the Diocese), the defendant insurer North Star Reinsurance Corporation (North Star) issued a subpoena requesting documents which are in the custody of the Hampden State Police Detective Unit.
