Appeal by defendant from a judgment for plaintiff entered on a verdict in an action for damages for personal injuries brought under the statute of the United States known as the Jones Act. (46 U.S.C.A. § 668.)

The accident occurred on June 28, 1950. Plaintiff was employed at the time by defendant as an able-bodied seaman aboard the S.S. Joel Chandler Harris. The ship was moored at Long Beach with its starboard side to the dock.
