The appellant is held in custody under an indictment. By writ of habeas corpus proceedings he challenges the legality of his commitment. The indictment charges, we are told, that the appellant, as manager of the Spotlight Laundry, disobeyed a mandatory order, issued by the Industrial Commissioner under article 19 of the Labor Law (Cons. Laws, ch. 31), commonly known as the minimum wage law for women and minors (Laws of 1933, ch. 584) "prescribing certain minimum wages for certain adult women employees of the said laundry;" and that the appellant "conspired to make false entries in the time…
