RILEY, Circuit Judge.

Mildred Clark (Clark), a teacher in the Kansas City, Missouri, School District (District), brought a section 1983 action against the District, alleging the District had deprived Clark of property without due process in violation of the Fourteenth Amendment. A jury returned a verdict in Clark’s favor. The District subsequently moved for judgment as a matter of law and for a new trial.
