This is a patent infringement case in which the parties have requested that I interpret the plaintiffs patent pursuant to Markman v. Westview Instruments, Inc., 52 F.3d 967 (Fed.Cir.1995) (en banc).

I. The Patent and its Disputed Terms

The patent at issue, United States Patent No. 5,744,040, is a methods and apparatus patent relating to the removal of hydrogen sulfide from water.
