McBRIDE, Judge.

This is a suit brought by a tenant seeking treble damages because of the defendants, his landlords, having exacted excessive rent for a room leased to and occupied by him. The suit arises under the Housing and Rent Act of 1947, 50 U.S.C. A.Appendix, § 1881 et seq. Section 205 of the Act, as amended by the Act of March 30, 1949, 50 U.S.C.A.Appendix, § 1895, provides: “Sec. 205. Any person who demands, accepts, or receives any payment of rent in excess of the maximum rent prescribed under section 204 shall be liable to the person from whom he demands, accepts, or receives such…
