SPEARS, Justice.

At issue in this case is the standard of care imposed upon a school district to ensure a student’s safety after disembarking a district provided school bus, and the limits of the legislature’s waiver of sovereign immunity. The trial court held the district owed a duty of ordinary care to its student passengers and that the doctrine of sovereign immunity did not protect the school district from suit. The court of appeals reversed, holding that the school district owed a high degree of care to its student passengers, similar to the duty owed by common carriers. 746 S.W.2d 257…
