Following a jury trial in the Superior Court, the defendant, David R. Thompson, was convicted of two counts of armed robbery and one count of malicious destruction of property. In his direct appeal, he argued that his case should have been dismissed in light of the time requirement of art. III of the Interstate Agreement on Detainers (IAD), which mandates a trial within 180 days of receipt of an IAD request absent good cause for a delay.
