LANDAU, J.

The defendant, Joseph Fernandez III, appeals from the judgment of conviction, rendered after a jury trial, of capital felony in violation of General Statutes § 53a-54b (8), two counts of murder in violation of General Statutes § 53a-54a (a) and commission of a class A, B, or C felony with a firearm in violation of General Statutes § 53-202k.1 The defendant received a total effective sentence of life imprisonment without the possibility of parole.
