The policy of insurance issued by the defendant to the husband of the plaintiff contained two clauses which determine the extent of the liability of the company and which give rise to the pending dispute. Part 1 provides as follows: “If the insured while this policy is in force shall receive personal bodily injury .... which is ef*398fected directly and independently of all other causes through external, violent and purely accidental means and which causes at once and continuously after the accident total inability to engage in any and every labor or occupation the company…
