COOPER, Justice.
In the early morning hours of December 13, 1997, a three-car accident on Louisville’s eastbound Watterson Expressway claimed the lives of two individuals and injured seven others. A jury convicted Appellant, Christopher Love, of two counts of wanton murder, two counts of assault in the first degree, one count of assault in the third degree, four counts of assault in the fourth degree, and one count each of operating a motor vehicle with a suspended operator’s license and operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol.
