Defendant Job Ayala (Ayala) appeals from his convictions of attempt (murder), aggravated battery (using a deadly weapon), aggravated battery (causing great bodily harm) and armed violence.

Ayala claims that he was not afforded due process of law because: his trial was unfair; the State failed to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that he was guilty of one count of aggravated battery (causing great bodily harm); and his shooting of one victim could not support a conviction for both armed violence and for attempt (murder).
