This court's original opinion, dated June 26, 1992, is withdrawn, and the following is substituted therefor:

This workers' compensation case concerns the trial court's calculation of the employee's benefits and requires us to construe the applicable statutory provisions.

William David Mabry, an employee of USX Corporation, injured his right hand on January 19, 1989, in an accident that occurred while he was performing his job for USX. Thereafter, Mabry brought an action to recover benefits under the workers' compensation statute of this state.
