This case was commenced by plaintiffs, Richard W. Patterson (hereinafter Patterson), Edward E. Shaw (hereinafter Shaw), and Joseph W. Melton (hereinafter Melton), in the Chancery Court of Shelby County by complaint against Chancellor James C. Hunt (hereinafter Hunt) and the University of Tennessee Center for the Health Sciences College of Dentistry (hereinafter UT). Patterson, Melton and Shaw alleged in the complaint that they are students at UT in academic good standing, are near completion of their first year of dental school and have paid all necessary fees; on April 27,…
