— By joint action of the boards of supervisors of Polk and Story Counties, the Polk-Story Drainage District No. 1 was established in 1906. The improvement consisted of a main open ditch, about 5,600 feet in length, with two open laterals, designated as Laterals a and b. The aggregate length of the open ditches was approximately three miles. By 1916, the ditches required cleaning out and repairing.
