ZARELLA, J.

The defendant, Gilberto L., appeals from the judgment of conviction, rendered after a jury trial, of one count of risk of injury to a child in violation of General Statutes (Rev. to 2003) § 53-21 (a) (l), 1 and one count of risk of injury to a child in violation of § 53-21 (a) (2). The defendant claims, inter alia, that the judgment should be reversed and a new trial ordered because the trial court violated his right under the sixth 2 and fourteenth 3 amendments to the United States constitution and Practice Book §§ 44-7 4 and 44-8 5 to be present at trial.
