In July, 1989, the defendant, Tracy Monique Caldwell, was indicted for murder, in violation of § 13A-6-2, Code of Alabama 1975; burglary in the first degree, in violation of § 13A-7-5; robbery in the first degree, in violation of § 13A-8-41; and kidnapping in the first degree, in violation of § 13A-6-43. After the Alabama Department of Mental Health found Caldwell competent to stand trial, she pleaded not guilty on June 21, 1990.
