LAMBERT, Justice.

More than two years after the intestate death of James Shelton Ellis, appellee brought this action seeking a declaratory judgment that he was the decedent’s illegitimate child and sole heir. Appellants are persons who claim to be the decedent’s heirs at law. The trial court dismissed appellee’s claim as barred by the statute of *782limitations.1 The Court of Appeals reversed the trial court and directed reinstatement of the suit.
