Petitioner-Appellant Maurice Mackey was convicted of murder and attempted murder. He now appeals the district court’s denial of habeas corpus relief. Mackey alleges that he was denied his Sixth Amendment right to effective assistance of counsel, and that he was denied due process by the government’s use, for impeachment purposes, of both Mackey’s prior misconduct and his invocation of his Miranda right to remain silent following his arrest.
