OPINION
On January 27, 2009, the trial court found defendant guilty of four counts of financial exploitation of an elderly person and two counts of theft. The evidence showed that in less than one year, defendant had taken and depleted the life savings — over $300,000— from a woman who suffered from dementia severe enough that she was not able to understand and manage her financial affairs.
