Mark Carney appeals from the district court’s 1 denial of his petition for a writ of habeas corpus. We affirm.

In March 2001, Carney was convicted in a Minnesota state district court of first-degree murder and was sentenced to life in prison for the shooting death of John Voeller. At the time of the murder, Car ney believed that Voeller was having an affair with his wife, Shelia.
