In this case, we are asked to decide whether the Mutual Life Insurance Company of New York (mony), a foreign insurance company doing business in Michigan, is required to pay a premium tax, imposed by MCL 500.440(l)(a); MSA 24.1440(l)(a), on employee contributions paid toward a group life insurance program mony provides to its Michigan employees.
