By an act of the General Assembly of the State in 1884 (Acts 1884-5, p. 191), as amended by an act in 1885 (Acts 1884-5, p. 235), the Borne Street Railroad Company was incorporated and authorized to do a street-railroad business in the City of Rome, and to extend its lines through the towns of East Rome, South Rome, Forestville, and De Soto, and as much as five miles beyond the City of Rome on any public road leading into the city.
