Plaintiff, Janelle Ritzheimer, filed an action in the circuit court of St. Clair County to recover damages for injuries she sustained when she was fired from her job after informing her employer that she had become pregnant. Plaintiff’s complaint contained two counts. Count I asserted a cause of action against defendant Insurance Counselors, Inc., her employer, for, inter alia, deprivation of her right to be free from discrimination on the basis of sex as guaranteed by article I, section 17, of the Illinois Constitution of 1970.…
