*106{¶ 1} This is an appeal from a judgment denying a writ of mandamus to compel a city to reinstate a former police chief. Because the court of appeals erred in holding that a former police chief has or had an adequate remedy in the ordinary course of law by way of a civil-service appeal to challenge his removal, we reverse the judgment and remand the cause for further proceedings.
