I. INTRODUCTION

This case arises out of a labor dispute at the Mansfield, Ohio facility of Armco, Inc., a steel manufacturer. In July 1999, Arm-co filed an action in state court1 claiming that the defendants-appellants, United Steelworkers of America, AFL CIO; Local 169, United Steelworkers of America AFL CIO; Billy D. Collins; Dan Martin; and Mark E. Robertson, (collectively “the Unions”) breached the terms of a collective bargaining agreement (CBA) in violation of the Labor Management Relations Act (LMRA), 29 U.S.C. § 301.
