EVERETT, Chief Judge:

In February 1979, appellant was tried at Fort Ord, California, by a general court-martial composed of officers. Contrary to his pleas, he was found guilty of possession and transfer of phencyclidine, in violation of Article 134, Uniform Code of Military Justice, 10 U.S.C. § 934. He was sentenced to a bad-conduct discharge, confinement for 12 months, forfeiture of $250 pay per month for 12 months, and reduction to the grade of Private E-l.
