Defendant appeals from his convictions on four counts of first-degree sexual abuse and one count each of first-degree attempted rape, 1 first-degree sodomy, and second-degree sexual abuse, each offense involving the same victim. Defendant asserts that the trial court erred in denying his motions for judgment of acquittal on the ground that the evidence at trial was insufficient to support a finding that the victim was “mentally defective” and, thus, incapable of consenting to the sexual conduct underlying the crimes for which defendant was convicted.
