On the 1st day of July, 1905, an indictment was returned by the grand jury of the Northern division of the Northern district of Illinois against the defendants, charging them with conspiring in restraint of trade and commerce among the states and with foreign nations, and with an attempt to monopolize such trade and commerce, in violation of the Sherman anti-trust act.
