The note was assigned to the plaintiffs Laura Robitaille and Mary Parenteau by the New England Bank Trust Company after Laura Robitaille paid off the note to the bank. The defendants Guy Downey and Yves Downey, along with Laura Robitaille's son, David Robitaille, (who is not a party in this suit) were The makers of the note.
