This is a writ of error to a judgment of the Circuit court of the county of Charlotte, rendered on the 80th day of September 1878, convicting Susan Thornton of the murder of her husband, William Thornton, by poison, and sentencing her to he hung therefor.

The indictment was in the usual form in such cases, and contained two counts. The first was a count charging the said Susan Thornton and one Ed. Kobinson jointly with the commission of the offence, as principals in the first degree. The second charged her as principal in the first degree and Mm…
