The State filed a petition under the Juvenile Court Act (the Act) (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1987, ch. 37, par. 801—1 et seq. (formerly Ill. Rev. Stat. 1985, ch. 37, par. 701—1 et seq.)) alleging R.G., a minor, required authoritative intervention (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1987, ch. 37, par. 803—3 (formerly Ill. Rev.
