This is an action at law for damages in which the plaintiff seeks to recover judgment against the defendant as a bailee for hire. This action is predicated on the negligence *49of defendant hotel company, its agents and servants, in caring for plaintiff’s trunk containing jewelry of alleged value of $45,809.95 at the time the trunk was stolen. This is the second appearance of this case in this court. In a previous opinion the cause was remanded for a new trial on the question of negligence. See Shiman Bros. & Co. v.
