The defendant, J. M. Thompson, was indicted by the grand jury of Pope County for the crime of grand larceny, the charge being that he stole a hale of cotton from U. Gr. Shoptaw, and on trial of the case the jury returned a verdict finding the defendant guilty of the offense charged in the indictment.
The evidence adduced by the State on the trial of the case tended to show that defendant stole three bales of cotton from the gin yard of Shoptaw and carried them to Russellville and sold them. The proof shows that the bales of cotton in question were ginned on October 16 and 17,1916, and Shoptaw…
