Brian Cuevas, through his guardian ad litem, brought an action for medical malpractice against defendant, the County of Contra Costa, among others, arising out of injuries he sustained at birth. A jury awarded him $9,577,000 as the present cash value of his future medical and rehabilitation care expenses.
