At a special court-martial composed of a military judge sitting alone, Appellant was convicted, pursuant to his pleas, of unauthorized absence, in violation of Article 86, Uniform Code of Military Justice [hereinafter UCMJ], 10 U.S.C. § 886 (2000). He was sentenced to a bad-conduct discharge, confinement for 90 days, and forfeiture of $695 of pay per month for three months.
