MEMORANDUM OF DECISION

JOSÉ A. CABRANES, District Judge:

This action seeks damages to redress an alleged deprivation of plaintiff Mary Bates’ rights under the Constitution and laws of the United States and the laws of the State of Connecticut arising out of injuries allegedly sustained by plaintiff while in custody, following her arrest, in the Norwich Police Station. In particular, Bates claims a deprivation of her rights under the First, Fourth, Eighth and Fourteenth Amendments to the United States Constitution and Sections 1983 and 1988 of Title 42 of the United States Code.
