Plaintiff carried an automobile liability indemnity insurance policy in the Travelers’ Insurance Company, defendant herein. By this policy, defendant agreed “to pay on behalf of Assured * * * all sums which the Assured shall become obligated to pay by reason of the liability imposed upon him by law for damages because of bodily injuries, including death, at any time resulting therefrom, by any persons or person during the policy period * * * caused by the operation, ownership or use” of the automobile covered by the policy.
